On the outside, you’re doing fine.

Successful, responsible, capable. The one people count on. You’ve built a life that looks good — and most days, you almost believe it.

But underneath, you’re exhausted. Anxious. Disconnected. Carrying the weight of everyone else’s needs while quietly neglecting your own.

On the inside, it never lets up.

You overthink everything. You can’t relax without guilt. You’re tired of being the strong one, but you don’t know how to stop.

Maybe you learned early that love, safety, or belonging came from being helpful, easy, productive, or needed. Those patterns helped you survive once. Now they’re running your life.

You’ve tried to fix it yourself.

Pushing through isn’t working. Neither is the scrolling, the drinking, the staying busy. The relief never lasts.

And talking about it — with friends, or even in past therapy — helped, until it didn’t. The insight is there. The change isn’t.

You have traveled too fast over false ground;
Now your soul has come to take you back.

– John O’Donohue

This is where depth work begins.

We’ll go beyond managing symptoms to find the root — the early experiences and patterns driving your anxiety, overthinking, and burnout. Then, using EMDR, IFS, and psychodynamic depth therapy, we’ll resolve the pain underneath them.

This isn’t quick work, and it isn’t easy. But freedom from the weight of your past is worth it.

Forest Rock Counseling

Hi, I’m David.

I’m a licensed therapist specializing in trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and childhood emotional wounds. I’m EMDR certified, trained in IFS, and I’ve spent ten years helping high-functioning adults get to the root of what’s driving them.

I’m kind, but I’m not fake. I won’t judge you — and I won’t just validate everything you say, either. Sometimes the most caring thing a therapist can do is be open and direct.

If you’re motivated to do this work, I’ll be here every step of the way. You don’t have to do this alone.

You’ve spent years being what everyone else needed. This is the part where you come back for yourself.
