This page contains links to books and podcasts that I find interesting. I am always sharing interesting resources with my clients and they also send me stuff that they find helpful. I have a lot of therapist client’s so some of the information may be more relatable to therapists. I’ll also be including books and podcasts that don’t directly involve therapy. Basically, whatever I’m reading or listening to is fair game. by David Queally | May 9, 2025 | Uncategorized
It seems like some of the most innovative therapy research is coming out of the UK and Australia. Mentalization Based Therapy and Schema Therapy are really good modalities that haven’t gained traction in the USA because of the idea that DBT is the ‘gold standard’ for BPD. Another therapy that is coming out of the UK is Deep Brain Reorienting. This looks like it could be an excellent adjunct to EMDR, especially with preverbal trauma and attachment shock. I just ordered the book. If it’s interesting I will consider going to the training in Dublin, Ireland in November. This is a great podcast with Otto Kernberg, one of the father’s of personality disorder research. He is 96 years old and still engaged in his work. He is a living legend. This is probably more interesting to therapists with a specific interest in personality disorders. I’ve read some of Kernberg’s books and found them really dense and almost impossible to read, so this podcast was a clear and refreshing take on his work without all the super technical language of the books. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2i5dUZBTFmjbweQ1998Wxd?si=1pAvbvHvTzy7_FP5APMiDg
